We all had a wonderful evening and the exhibition was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Navan, Frances Dean, who gave a great speech to celebrate the occasion. Lucy Flynn Grillet , Person in charge in Millbury, also spoke glowingly about Tommy’s achievements since arriving in Millbury.

The exhibition was attended by lots of Tommy’s friends and relations, staff and residents of Millbury.

Tommy was delighted with his evening which was successful in more ways than one, as he sold more than half of the paintings on show and got a commission for another painting.

This was very encouraging for him and he is busy painting again to build up his portfolio of artworks

We believe that Tommy’s achievement has served as an inspiration to other residents and also to staff, who take great pride in his accomplishments. Thanks to Tommy, we now have many residents taking part in regular painting sessions. We encourage people to develop their own style of painting as Tommy did. As Tommy did not come from an artistic background, he was a mechanic his whole working life, he shows that it is never too late to learn a new skill! Tommy also takes part in all out other activities here in Millbury.
