On the 27th of March 2015 Millbury Nursing Home decided to hold a bake sale to raise money for Daffodil Day for cancer research.
We asked our staff and some family members of our residents if they would contribute by baking for us.
The morning of the bake sale, staff were all in their yellow t-shirts and shirts and fresh daffodils bought by Lucy and Thierry Grillet were in vases around the building.
We set up one table in the reception area to put the baked goods on. We ended up needing 3 of these tables as the amount of baked goods far exceeded our expectations.
We had advertised for the bake sale with posters put around the building. The turn out was amazing and the cakes were going fast.
The residents and family’s were in the dining room where tea and coffee was supplied.
We also had Music supplied by Martin Hubble who has played in Millbury Nursing Home before and he is liked by all residents.
and so the party began.
A lot of the cakes were eaten at the time and a lot were wrapped to be taken home.
Pictures were taken by Kieran Maguire and these were in the Meath Chronicle the following week.
We are delighted to announce that we managed to Raise €767.50 for Cancer Research and we will defiantly be doing this again next year.
The kindness and generosity shown by people who work in and who visit Millbury Nursing Home was amazing and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help with this very good cause.
